What’s happening this weekend?

BOO! Halloween and the final weekend in October have arrived. Of course there are plenty of Halloween-themed events going on this weekend, but if you are not into Halloween you will not be at loss for things to do. Whether you decide to spend your weekend in a wicked costume or sipping some brews in the sunshine, we hope your final weekend of October is a great one.

Black Diamond Burlesque’s Haunted Masquerade is sure to be a treat for those looking to enjoy Halloween with some vaudeville entertainment. Saturday at 8 p.m. at Cock & Bull.

Sexy (and safe!) Halloween

The annual Safe Sex Halloween Bash has a “Haunted Hollywood” theme and everyone will go home with a “shag bag” filled with delightful goodies. Saturday at 9 p.m. at Michael’s on East.

Spooky Family Fun

Spend Halloween Eve dressed up in costume with the whole family at Selby Gardens for its annual “Spooktacular”. Trick-or-treating, pumpkin decorating, a “mad scientist” experiment center and plenty of opportunities for cute pictures. Sunday from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Selby Gardens.

Brews with your crew

The inaugural Sip the Sunshine festival will be going on this weekend and will feature more than 100 Florida-brewed beers. Local musicians will be performing throughout the day with the final performance being by national headliner Blues Traveler. Saturday from noon to 9 p.m. at Nathan Benderson Park.

20 years of Blues

Giving Hunger the Blues has moved from Hillview Street and will now be overlooking the Sarasota Bay for its 20th anniversary. Head on over to the lawn of the Van Wezel to enjoy great music by Jah Movement, Twinkle & Rock Soul Radio and RJ Howson. Sunday from noon to 9 p.m. at Van Wezel.
