While waiting for his girlfriend to play Pokémon Go, a Sarasota man who was at the park after hours was caught by a Sarasota County Sheriff’s Deputy and charged with multiple drug offenses.

Guillermo A. Cava-Nunez, 20, is accused of possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana (hash oil), possession of Xanax with intent to sell, and possession of marijuana. He is being held at the Sarasota County jail on bonds totaling $11,500.

According to the Sheriff’s Office:

Cava-Nunez was parked in a vehicle at Urfer Park waiting for his girlfriend to arrive to play Pokémon Go, when a deputy on a routine patrol saw two vehicles in the park after hours at around 12:24 a.m. today.

Two deputies approached the vehicles, and one made contact with Cava-Nunez, who said he did not know the park was closed. The deputy said he could smell marijuana and asked the 20-year-old man if he had anything illegal in the car, which he initially denied.

When he was asked to step out of the vehicle Cava-Nunez nervously got out of the vehicle, and told the deputy what he could find inside.

Deputies found three baggies of marijuana, two bags of Xanax, extra baggies, a scale, and two bags designated as hash oil inside a black brief case on the passenger floor board.

In the back seat, deputies found a back pack with two plastic containers to hold the hash oil, and a utensil to “dab it out,” the report said. Two other plastic containers were marked “Canna Medical Edibles” and “Cannabliss Co. Prem Nug Shatter.”

A rolled up baggie of a powdery substance, later confirmed as cocaine, was found in Cava-Nunez’s wallet. Rolling papers were found in his shorts pocket.

Cava-Nunez remains in custody at Sarasota County jail.

Derek occasionally gets homework assignments from daycare. And we want Derek to know the importance of school, especially since he’ll … MORE>>
