Evie’s debuting exclusive beer by Darwin Brewing Co.

A new beer debuts Friday and there are only a handful of places carrying it in Southwest Florida.

One of the region’s most high-profile restaurant groups has partnered with an equally renowned local brewery to offer its patrons an exclusive craft beer on a regular basis.

The locally owned Evie’s family of businesses that includes taverns and grills across Sarasota and Manatee counties as well as Office Bar SRQ in downtown Sarasota, White Buffalo Saloon on McIntosh Road and Spanish Point Restaurant & Tiki Bar in Osprey will debut Eviebody’s Blonde this Friday at all its locations.

The beer is a blonde ale made in Bradenton by the award-winning Darwin Brewing Co., which has its facility and tasting room at 803 17th Avenue West, next to McKechnie Field.

“We just wanted something new, fresh and exciting to offer,” says Mike Evanoff, owner of the Evie’s family of businesses. “It’s not too strong with a nice taste so you can have one or two and enjoy it inside or in the sun. It’s a perfect Florida beer.”

Eviebody’s Blonde is described as being light-bodied and refreshing with fruity notes courtesy of citra hops. “Crystal malt adds body, sweetness, color and retention,” reads the card that will greet customers on Friday. “Topped with thick frothy foam allowing malt flavor to shine.”

Eviebody’s Blonde is 5.1 percent alcohol by volume, which means it’s about the same potency as most macro brews.

Recommended pairings include popular Evie’s dishes such as burgers, hot wings, white buffalo pizza and mahi mahi sandwich.

On Friday, all Evie’s locations will be offering a 20-ounce pour of Eviebody’s Blonde for $5 and you get to keep the glass while supplies last.

The crew from Darwin Brewing Co. will be making visits with goodies to raffle at the following locations:

Evie’s 53rd: 2-3:30 p.m.
Evie’s Main Street: 4-5 p.m.
Evie’s Bee Ridge: 5:30-6:30 p.m.
Evie’s Spanish Point: 7-8 p.m. for sunset
White Buffalo Saloon: 8:30 p.m.

Derek occasionally gets homework assignments from daycare. It mostly consists of him learning how to trace his own name, and some very simple math problems – simple if you’re way above the age of 4, that it is. But it’s homework nonetheless. And we want Derek to know the importance of school, especially since he’ll … MORE>>

Apparently, today is National Beer Day. April 7th is the celebration of when beer became legal again in the United States after the Cullen-Harrison Act was signed into law by President Franklin Roosevelt on March 23, 1933. It’s rare to see eight female filmmakers lined up in a row discussing their short film and documentary work–mostly because it’s rare to see eight women filmmakers together in one room at all.
