Sure, everyone hears bits and pieces about New York fashion week. You don’t really feel like runway fashion has anything to do with you, but it does. Those crazy, and maybe even silly, outfits determine how you’ll dress for the next few months.

It’s possible to turn runway fashion into everyday wear and I’m going to show you how. This spring’s hottest trends for women include 1970s fringe, feathers and patchwork, denim everything, checkered and gingham patterns. Don’t forget lots of black and white. 1950s-style brocade and jacquard dresses with full skirts in midi and maxi lengths are making a comeback, too. Hello, jogging pants! Active-wear is making a coming back strong with lots of mesh. And my very favorite, gladiator sandals, up to your eyeballs!

Decorative Fabrics:

A. The 50’s A-line dresses are making a comeback. This brocade dress from H&M can be found for $69.95 and a similar Delpozo was debuted at fashion week.

B. Oscar De La Renta made a a jacquard dress for fashion week. You can find a similar dress at Nordstrom for $220.

C. ASOS sells a patchwork dress for everyday wear for $52. Patchwork for day-to-day wear was sold out almost everyplace I looked. I would say patchwork is here to stay. Most of the Jeremy Scott‘s collection was done in patchwork style.

Opulent Embellishment: 

A. Urban Outfitters sells a beaded crop top, for $29.99, that is very similar to Ralph Lauren‘s beaded collection.

B. This feather skirt by Ann Taylor ($79.88) take a different spin on the normal feathered skirt. You can really see a pattern within the feather. Rodarte designed a siren-like dress for fashion week that blew people away.

 C. This ASOS ($45.50)  fringe skirt is all the rage. It’s sold out almost everywhere. Proenza Schouler debuted skirts that are similar at fashion week, but they had much higher cuts.

Lace & Gingham: 

A. This lace top from H&M ($17.95) is not only lace it has fringe! Michael Kors did a very elegant take on lace at New York fashion week.

B. Big bell shapes are also a trend in Oscar De La Renta‘s collection this year. This 6ks ($30.99) bell sleeved lace dress is a perfect example of this.

C. Gingham is back with a vengeance this year. Get ready for 50s style picnic blanket fabrics. This ModCloth ($49) is a perfect example of day-to-day wear. Diane Von Furstenberg was one of many designers at fashion week to bring back the checks.

Active-wear: 

A. Mesh made quite the appearance at this years fashion week. Alexander Wang went all out, like usual, and wasn’t afraid to show a little nip, but for a day-to-day look I thought this Forever21 ($32.90)  mesh dress left enough the the imagination.

B. Slouchy bottoms made a big appearance all around this year. J. Crew showed how you could wear slouchy in a classy way. Locally, Misred Outfitters ($28) shows how you can wear slouchy in a comfy way.

C. Slouchy pant can be worn in all settings. You can dress them up, like Suno, or dress them down like Urban Outfitters ($59).

Midi & Maxi lengths: 

A. This midi skirt from Express (currently unavailable) is perfect to wear to work. I loved the shear panel. Michael Kors did a similar shear style skirt for fashion week.

B. This black lace maxi skirt from H&M ($49.95) shows just enough leg and detail to look very sophisticated. Michael Kors shows a different side of elegance with his bold prints and bold color scheme.

C. I decided to stick with the shear paneling idea. I loved how the body of this Urban Outfitters dress is a body suit.  Altuzarra took a similar approach to the concept of “toeing the line.” The plunging neckline of this gown has the same wow factor as the shear dress’ bodysuit.

Micro & mini bags: 

A. This Micro mini purse from H&M is the perfect size for a night out or just to take to work. It’s classy and simple.

B. This year Fendi debuted this periwinkle leather micro purse at fashion week.  It was also voted top purse of 2015.

Gladiators: 

Gladiators are making a bigger comeback than ever before. Dsquared² showed off their knee high sandals at fashion week. The thighs the limit with gladitors this Spring. There are plent of options if knee high isn’t your choice of gladiator. Choies has knee high. And Target has a lot of  shorter options(here and here).
