Photo project for Women’s Rights taking place today in Sarasota

Little Skull Photography has been rocking the photo scene – especially with pinup & boudoir photography – since 2012 and have been calling Sarasota home since 2015. But today they will be doing a very different type of photography and they are looking for anyone and everyone to get involved.

From 2-6 p.m. Little Skull Photography will be open to the public for anyone who may wish to take part in a photo project called Stand Up For Women. Participants will be given materials to make their own signs and then be photographed holding a whiteboard with their message of choice written on it.

Joslyn Devaney, 32, with Little Skull Photography explained why she and her husband, Michael, wanted to take on this photo project.

“We decided to do this project because the rights of women is something very dear to us here at Little Skull! Most of our clientele are women as we are most well known for our pinup and boudoir photography and we take great pride in making women feel beautiful in their own skin. Most women leave our studio feeling a sense of empowerment and a boost in confidence they’ve never felt before. Watching the fundamental rights of women be taken away and Planned Parenthood be defended is absolutely heartbreaking to us and we feel like we needed to do something to let our own voices as well as folks in our community’s voices be heard.”

The photos will be put into a blog post which the Devaney’s hope will go viral. However, no matter how far it gets on the internet they just want people to have an outlet where they can express themselves and be heard.

“We need to keep fighting and stand up for our rights and the rights of others. We have come too far to go backwards now.”

If you are interested in taking part visit the Facebook event page to learn more details. While there is no specific dress code, the Devaney’s suggest wearing black, or jeans and a white top.
