Server Chronicles: Another Note

Was this real life?

Yes, it was.

I am so glad that this wasn’t my table.

Let’s break this horrific sight down:

So a table comes in, late.

They rack up a near $400 check.

They complain and get a few dishes for free.

And it is someone’s birthday.

Of course it is.

So we shall sing to them, right?

Wait.

It gets scarier.

They have their own birthday lyrics that they have asked us to sing to them.

They even wrote them down on a  piece of paper and gave it to the server.

1.) Do you work for azlyrics.com?

2.) WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?

I understand going out to eat is an experience, and it should be a good one.

You are getting a service which should be lovely.

However, you are still at a casual-dining restaurant.

This is not your show.

This is not your restaurant.

It never will be.

I treat all tables with respect, and when I go out to eat, I hope to be respected and have a nice time.

Would I ever expect a server to take so much time out of their day to sing a song that they don’t know?

Would I ever ask them to change the way they do things because “this is what I want them to do?”

No

No

No

The fact that anyone thinks they are important enough to ask a stranger to do this for them, baffles me.

I know you are coming out to eat and spending money, but this doesn’t make you king of the world.

Sorry to break the harsh news to you.

I think people need to be reminded this.

You chose to come out and spend money, and this doesn’t automatically make it so you deserve everyone changing their night around, for you.

This especially applies when you are at a casual place. You aren’t at a fancy five-star gala.

And then, they tip $10 on an over $300 check.

This alone is gross.

I don’t know how people can do that, especially after requesting so many specific demands.

Oh I forgot to mention they brought their own decorations for the table.

It isn’t a surprise someone like this wouldn’t tip, but it just makes it even worse.

I hope Melissa had a nice birthday, but when you write absurd things like this, you will become my headline.

As always.
