Big changes happening for HuB

The HuB building is getting a new name.

With plans proceeding to build a five-story residential structure next door, HuB building owner Jesse Biter said Monday he is renaming the business incubator building “BOLD | Live, Work, Play.”
“For years, the HuB co-working space has successfully helped entrepreneurs and other professionals connect and grow together,” Biter said in a news release. “Now that I’m adding additional amenities, including 97 apartments, I knew it was time to create a new brand that wouldn’t be confused in the marketplace as we grow.”

Biter said the HuB office, 1680 Fruitville Road, has over the course of four years been home to more than over 150 entrepreneurs and 50 startups, which he said made it one of the largest co-working spaces in the state.

He has filed plans with the city, under the corporate name Hub2point0 LLC, to tear down the adjacent parking garage and put up a $14.9 million building with 97 units, 6,836 square feet of office space and 247 parking spaces.

That project, called BOLD Lofts, is scheduled to open in early 2018, he said.

Both the office and residential buildings will contain private office rentals, common working areas and amenities geared toward startups and freelancers. Biter said he also plans to launch a venture fund and incubator late next year.
