What’s happening this weekend?

Here are a few of the great events going on this weekend as we say goodbye to September and hello to October.

Old-fashion, family fun!

Head on over to the Old Miakka Fall Hootenanny on Sunday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. for some free fun with barbecue dinners, plenty of educational arts and crafts, live music and Civil War reenactment.

Get your German on in Gulf Gate!

Oktoberfest will be happening right here in Gulf Gate at Mr. Beery’s from 4 to 10 p.m. on Saturday. The $35 ticket gets you a one liter glass beer stein to keep, first of any Oktoberfest beer on tap and a plate of German food from Geier’s Sausage Kitchen. There will also be a costume contest so make sure you get out your best pair of lederhosen for the occasion.

Pumpkin time!

Get yourself into the festive feeling of fall by heading to Fruitville Grove’s 28th annual pumpkin festival on Saturday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Enjoy games, activities, pony rides, a petting zoo, live music and of course plenty of pumpkins looking for a good home.

More Beer! More Bands! More BBQ!

If you just can’t get enough of those three things then you’re in luck. Music Compound will be putting on their second annual Beer, Bands & BBQ festival out at the Sarasota Polo Club on Saturday starting at noon until 7 p.m. The festival will feature local craft and domestic beers on tap, top local bands performing 45-minute sets and local restaurants serving barbecue-inspired dishes.
