Are millennials to blame for the decline in bar soap?

Last week Mintel published research that reveals sales of bar soap are in decline. U.S. consumers are in favor of liquid soap. Between 2014-15, sales of bar soap “slipped” 2.2 percent compared to an overall market growth of 2.7 percent.

The research reveals that bar soap has negative perceptions. Almost half of all U.S. consumers believe bar soaps are covered in germs after use; this belief is particularly strong among consumers aged 18-24 (60 percent).
