Drag! Camp! Intrigue! ‘Vaudeville’s Dead’ returns

If you read our review of the Plump Sisters’ debut show and thought “I’d have gone, if it weren’t already over; THANKS A LOT, unravel,” well, this coming weekend is your chance to catch an encore performance of “Vaudeville’s Dead” at the Starlite Room.

“Sisters” Eleanor and Ester Plump (writer/actors Parker Lawhorne and Kelly Leissler, respectively) will offer three repeat performances of their drag-tastic musical revue Aug. 26-28 at the Sarasota restaurant. The foil to their sibling rivalry, Dick Sonormous* (Brian Finnerty, also the show’s choreographer), has some shining scene-stealing moments.

It’s a dinner theater experience, so if you want to order a couple cocktails and dinner, arriving slightly early is recommended. If the same young lady is greeting guests at this encore show, you may marvel at her ability not to muss her wig by bumping it into the light fixtures. (I’m just saying, no way I could walk in heels half that high.)

Interested? You can buy tickets here, and check out the sisters’ Facebook page for more information.

*This is a pretty good indicator of some of the humor you can expect. It works, I promise.
