Miss reading books filled with illustrations? Long to be one of the people who can say “the book was better” when the next superhero movie comes out?

Tytan Comics in Downtown Bradenton has you covered.

The comic book shop/ tattoo parlor, located at 306 12th St. W., is giving away free books as part of the national Free Comic Book Day. The store is one of thousands of such shops that plan to give away books on Saturday, May 7.

Ty Harris, who owns Tytan Comics (see what he did there), said more than 5.6 million comic books will be given away across the world on Saturday.

“Recently comic books and graphic novels have been propelled to the front ranks of pop culture, many being adapted into movies,” Ty said. “Comics are a fun and enduring form of entertainment for readers to dive into as imagination comes to life with the turn of every page.”

Want to know who died at the end of season 6 of the Walking Dead? The graphic novel has you covered. Couldn’t get enough of Deadpool at the movies? His comic book is just as dark and hilarious.

The event will run from about 9 a.m. until around 9 p.m. at the shop. For more information, visit Tytan Comics’ website or Free Comic Book Day’s site.
