Lakewood Ranch will soon be home to its own HuB-style coworking space and startup incubator.

CoWorkLWR will officially open its doors June 1, but its founders are throwing a pre-kickoff party Friday, April 29 at the Polo Grill Bar in Lakewood Ranch, located at 10670 Boardway Loop.

Coworking is a term used when people who are self-employed or work for different employers share the same open office space. Supporters say it allows entrepreneurs to share equipment, ideas and knowledge with others in a non-competitive way.

Keith Pandeloglou is the CEO of CoWorkLWR. He said he hopes the pre-kickoff party will be a chance to explain the work space concept, especially to those who live in Lakewood Ranch.

“Not many people are aware of coworking’s benefits or that it even exists,” he said. “But it’s our goal to turn that norm on its head.”

The pre-kickoff party will feature two free drink tickets to those who RSVP as well as complimentary small plates. DJ Kaiju will play music.

In addition to conference rooms and desks for rent, CoWorkLWR will feature a recording and video-editing studio and startup services provided by UTC Venure Group, CoWorkLWR’s parent company.

Pandeloglou said he hopes to new office spaces will provide a collaborative environment for young entrepreneurs to create new ventures.

“We also feel operating your own business can look daunting without the support of a like-minded community rooting you on,” Pandeloglou said. “Since we want entrepreneurs to love every aspect of what they do, we shoulder the hard tasks, making it easier for them to focus on their passions and discover new ones from the people within the co-working community.”
