Sarasota couple featured on HGTV House Hunters

When Madeline and Ryan Chase wanted to buy a house in Sarasota, they didn’t expect their experience to be broadcast to millions on national television.

Sure, they were the ones who willingly applied to be on HGTV’s popular reality television series “House Hunters,” which follows couples around as they evaluate house after house, until they find “the one.”

“Never in a million years did we think we’d hear from them after we applied,” said Madeline Chase, a teacher for Florida Virtual School. Ryan Chase is an assistant principal for Mcintosh Middle School in Sarasota.

After phone interviews and a video audition, a few producers and a film crew met the Chase family in Sarasota last summer. They worked with the Chases’ local realtor, Debra Pitel of Michael Saunders, to come up with several housing prospects.

Spoiler alert: The Chase family owns and lives in one of the homes that will be featured on the show, which airs Thursday at 10 p.m. on HGTV.

The Chase family live happily in the Colonial Oaks neighborhood with their three-year-old son, Carter. They moved in last September.
