Atomic Holiday Bazaar: CABfayre

For Carey Borden, it starts at the sketch pad.

That’s the first place she goes when an idea hits her.

But its lasers that bring her work to life.

Her laser cutter takes her atoms, honeycombs, bats and cupcakes and transforms them into striking acrylic pendants, earrings, compact mirrors and necklaces.

Cool, right?

The Bradenton-based artist has been dabbling in jewelry since 2008, and since then she’s sold her pieces to buyers in every state and in more than 40 countries internationally through her Etsy shop CABfayre. Her jewelry-making company is her full time gig, and she’s created hundreds of designs and shipped thousands of orders from her Southwest Florida workshop.

This weekend she’ll be hanging out at the Atomic Holiday Bazaar. It’s her seventh year at one of Sarasota’s biggest crafting events.

Her goal is to take the ideas that pop into her head and to turn them into things that people enjoy whether that’s the octopus cutting that started it all or a set of Mean Girls Christmas ornaments featuring sayings like “Boo you whore,” “That’s so fetch” and “You can’t sit with us.”

You can check out her full Etsy shop here.
