J.K. Rowling team announces new Harry Potter short stories…again

J.K. Rowling’s people have announced that three new Harry Potter books will be released next month. She’s yet to confirm it herself, but the publishers have descriptions out…and so far, it’s not too impressive.

Your friendly neighborhood Unravel staff read Harry Potter and the Cursed Child out of loyalty to our favorite boy wizard — most of us had similar reactions to it. It sold more than 2 million copies in its first two days, which is as to be expected with the franchise. Which I guess makes sense that they’d come up with more things to sell.

The three eBooks are listed on Amazon with Sept. 6 publication dates.  They’re $3 each…for about 70 pages of content. Here’s the lowdown:

Short Stories from Hogwarts of Power, Politics and Pesky Poltergeists

Short Stories from Hogwarts of Heroism, Hardship and Dangerous Hobbies

Hogwarts: An Incomplete and Unreliable Guide

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was also sold by Pottermore, so we really shouldn’t be too surprised. But with most of the content repackaged from a website that offers behind-the-scenes content for free, it’s looks like yet another disappointing money-grab by producers trying to keep the Potter business alive.

Don’t even get me started on turning “Fantastic Beasts” into THREE movies.

Rowling always said there would be just seven books. Personally, I wish she’d quit while she was ahead. Most of this is probably an unknown “team” making decisions in her name, but the content is still being created.
