Grand opening of the Animal Clinic of the Humane Society of Sarasota, 1090 N. Tuttle Ave. in Sarasota.

The weekend was so awesome people were ‘Tebowing’ in Bradenton

So, here I am putting together another #weekendinsocial when the Facebook gods throw me a bone. No, really, this is about cats and dogs.

This weekend the Animal Clinic of the Humane Society of Sarasota County held a grand opening for its new facility at 1090 N. Tuttle Ave.  The new full-service, low-cost veterinary clinic offers preventative care, wellness exams, dental care, digital X-rays, diagnostics and pet food and supplies for cats and dogs.

That means I can take Duke there!

FYI, James Bond is up for adoption:

Hours for the Humane Society clinic are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday; and 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays.

He received his veterinary diploma at National University of Columbia and moved to the United States in 2004 for an internship at University of Florida (Go Gators!). He spent two years at UF working on dairy farms and practicing Herd Medicine and Reproduction.

Caceres moved to Sarasota where he received a license in Small Animal Practice and joined the Humane Society in May 2012, according to the Humane Society of SRQ Facebook page.

He has a two-year-old Yorkshire Terrier named Pimienta, and enjoys boxing, cycling, the beach, reading and music.

I am going to drop this token photo of a Sarasota sunset in here now because quite frankly, it’s beautiful:

All is well with Earth.

Heads up from SNN-TV’s J-Mosely on the upcoming weather:

Spring training is in full effect for all you baseball lovers. That means eventually I’m going to gorge myself on hot dogs. Probably, next weekend.

Ah, baseball.

Also, in sports, congrats to all our trackers with fast feet:

How did you take the news of Sarasota’s name being throw into the mix of best towns ever.. well, it says in the U.S. but it means “ever.”

There were some pretty exotic creations at the first ever Suncoast Science Faulhaber Fab Lab RC Custom Car Open — try to say that 3 times fast.

I’m currently working on my beard, too:

This tottaly happened, too, but I was watching #UFC196, and missed it. Thanks to the magic of social media, I was able to witness it later:

Nothing unusual to see here… #chillounge

Derek occasionally gets homework assignments from daycare. It mostly consists of him learning how to trace his own name, and some very simple math problems – simple if you’re way above the age of 4, that it is. But it’s homework nonetheless. And we want Derek to know the importance of school, especially since he’ll … MORE>>

Derek has decided he wants to be a firefighter when he gets older. Keep in mind he’s 4 and he can’t decide what color pajamas he wants to wear to bed. So that may change. But the good thing is I have used this to our advantage. Derek wants to grow and big to become … MORE>>

April 7th is the celebration of when beer became legal again in the United States after the Cullen-Harrison Act was signed into law by President Franklin Roosevelt on March 23, 1933. Thanks to the city of Sarasota, Lido Beach just got a bright new addition: a cerulean marker displaying how high sea levels are projected to rise in the next 100 years. Here’s the thing–the facts are scary. We said it. To name just a few: In less than 15 years, by 2030, sea levels are … MORE>>
I hate eggs. Hate them. You can scramble them, poach them, make them sunny side up, and then you can go ahead and stuff yourself because I want nothing to do with them. I have a hard time watching people eat eggs. I liked French toast until someone told me it was nothing more than … MORE>>

It’s rare to see eight female filmmakers lined up in a row discussing their short film and documentary work–mostly because it’s rare to see eight women filmmakers together in one room at all.
